About Us

Two generations of the Charlebois family have worked to create this unique space in the Gatineau hills. Focused on a fun and sustainable lifestyle, the family has taken great care to curate a healthy deciduous forest and the low-impact trails that wind within it. Situated on Charlebois bay; a sandy and shallow part of Lac Paquin; the aquifers beneath the forest feed into the lake, resulting in clean, clear waters for all to enjoy. The structures were constructed by Bernard Chalebois and his sons using timber harvested from the surrounding woodland, using skills passed down the generations since French colonists first came to Canada.

Happy guests say...

Below are some comments from guests who have stayed at one of our properties.

“ Excellent family vacation! We have stayed here for three years in a row. Beautiful setting, very private and quiet, with no visible neighbours at the cabin. Phil and his family are very friendly and welcoming without being intrusive. Phil goes above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay. (Like prepping materials for our campfire when we mentioned we'd like to cook on it, and strolling over to invite our boys to see the garden snake he found!) Access to the lake and fire pit is a 5 min walk away from the cabin. The lake is very clean and clear. You can see the fish bite your line! There is no dock, but you can walk right out from the shore. The cabin is very clean and well equipped. Remember to bring drinking water. You can refill bottles for next to nothing at the grocery store in town. Just a note for families that the master bedroom is on the 3rd floor and the other bedroom is on the 1st floor. Our little guys had no trouble navigating the two flights of stairs in the middle of the night, but if needed, there is plenty of room in the master bedroom for an extra mattress or two.

Highly recommended! ”

“ My family and I rented this cottage in January, and we can't say enough. Phil did a fantastic job providing us with all the necessary information (and was very patient and understanding with my many questions!) before arriving and upon arrival. The cabin was very clean, all amenities were at our disposal including linens and towels, wood for the fire, dishes and coffee maker (we are big coffee drinkers and we both agreed that it was one of the best coffees we've ever had), and so much more! I would also add that the beds are very comfortable! A variety of books and puzzles were also available which was great! Phil and his family are very hospitable, they included us in winter activities and lent us snow shoes for our very own walk in the bush! We also have a dog who absolutely loved the area, he got to run and play, he had a great time!

As i said, we cannot say enough about this cottage, we would definitely recommend it! ”

“ My wife and I rented the cabin for a week and it was incredibly relaxing and quiet. It was spotlessly clean and the wood fireplace keeps the main floor and upstairs bedroom comfortable and warm. Phil was also nice enough to deliver more firewood a couple times during the week.

I would rent this cabin again and recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, secluded holiday. ”
